Sambalpur: Headmistress of a school died while her husband was critical incident due to electrocution in Nakatideul area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place when headmistress of Batagaon Upper Primary School under Nakatideul block in the district was trying to switch on a motor pump for lifting water from a well at her residence in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Anita Purohit (52) of Lugadia village, while her husband Santosh Purohit was injured.
Sources said Anita was electrocuted when she came in contact with a live wire while trying to switch on the motor pump. Her husband suffered injuries while trying to rescue her. Some neighbours intervened and used a wooden stick to disconnect the electrical wire, saving Santosh.
Anita was rushed to Naktideula Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for post-mortem.
