Bhubaneswar: The School of Maritime Studies was inaugurated at Odisha’s Jatni campus of Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM).
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary formally launched the new school which added another milestone to CUTM’s journey.
“Team Centurion has worked with remarkable comprehensiveness, and the leadership at the university is deeply committed to transforming education through effective skill integration. University’s objective is to equip students with practical, industry-aligned competencies, ensuring that they not only earn certificates and diplomas but also become truly employable with secure and sustainable career prospects,” Chaudhary said.
He emphasised that the university has established a number of specialised centres across diverse sectors, including agriculture, electric vehicles, automotive engineering, manufacturing and fashion design.
The School of Maritime Studies, which has a capacity to train 1,200 students, will offer a wide range of programmes such as maritime logistics, port operations, shipbuilding, ship repair and LNG terminal management.
Centurion University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Supriya Pattanayak, president Prof. Mukti Mishra, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. (Dr) Ajaya Kumar Nayak were present, along with students and faculties.
The School of Maritime Studies is a DG Shipping-approved and DNV-accredited Maritime Training Institute (MTI), and a member of the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).
Equipped with state-of-the-art marine simulators and advanced training facilities, the school will prepare highly-skilled professionals for the global maritime and blue economy sectors. The school also delivers specialised maritime skill-based training for Africa, fostering international collaboration and capacity building.
