Bengaluru: The charred remains of a 13-year-old boy, abducted from Bengaluru on Wednesday, was found in a deserted area of the city later in the day. Nishchith A was a Class 8 student of Christ School.
The boy went missing from Arekere 80 Feet Road after he left home to attend a tuition class at 5 pm on Wednesday, the police said. His father, J C Achit, is an assistant professor at a private college.
After Nishchith failed to return home at 7.30 pm, his parents got in touch with the tuition teacher and were told that the boy had left after completing his class. The parents then started searching for him and found his bicycle near the Arekere Family Park.
Around that time, they also received a phone call from an unknown number, demanding Rs 5 lakh for the safe return of the boy. The parents immediately got in touch with the police and a missing and abduction complaint was registered at the Hulimavu police station.
The police immediately started tracking the location of the caller and a massive search operation was launched. Later in the evening, Nishchith’s burnt body was found in an area along Kaggalipura Road in the city.
The police said that the body has been sent for an autopsy and an investigation is underway. Forensics experts have also collected samples from the area.
