Bhubaneswar: In view of the intense heat wave conditions and soaring temperatures, the district administration of Boudh in Odisha has ordered the closure of all educational institutions for five days from April 18.
The move comes following a red warning of severe heat issued for the district by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the official order, all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), schools, colleges, degree colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Odisha Vidyalayas (OVS), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), and Technical Institutions in the district will remain closed from April 18 to 22.
However, examinations already scheduled during this period will be conducted as planned. Institutions may reschedule them to morning hours if required to avoid peak heat. Heads of all institutions have been directed to ensure adequate drinking water facilities and implement necessary heat-wave safety measures for students and staff.
The step was taken as districts in western and interior parts of Odisha, including Boudh, experienced severe heat with maximum temperatures soaring above 40°C in many areas.
Similar precautionary measures have already been announced in neighbouring districts like Balangir and Sonepur to safeguard children from intense heat.
