Scottish Sikh, An Ex-BBC Presenter, Arrested For Alleged Sexual Offences

London: A Scottish Sikh former BBC presenter, comedian and food writer has been arrested and charged by police in Scotland.

The 54-year-old Hardeep Singh Kohli was under investigation over sexual harassment allegations that are “non-recent”, Police Scotland said.

The force has submitted its report to the Procurator Fiscal, the independent public prosecution office of the devolved region.

“A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences. He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date. A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

Police confirmed last month that it was investigating allegations against Kohli published by ‘The Times’ newspaper.

BBC cut ties with the food writer and reality show contestant three years ago when Kohli apologised for making women feel “intimidated, undermined and undervalued”.

Earlier in 2009, BBC suspended Kohli from working on its magazine programme ‘The One Show’ after admitting to “overstepping the mark” in his conduct towards a young female researcher.
