Ansuman Pradhan of IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar, with 60 percent mental illness (Schizophrenia), a candidate in the HSC Examination 2024, had applied to take the help of a scribe but was denied permission.

The SCPD took up the issue with the Board of Secondary Education and in her order highlighted the provisions governing the facility of scribes in the examination. As a result, the Centre Superintendent was directed
accordingly and Ansuman has been allowed to take the examination with scribe and extra time.

In another case, Saista Parwin, a 60 percent visually impaired aspirant, was to appear in the Odisha Civil Service Main Examination (2022) of OPSC. But obtaining a scribe for her in the examination was the bottleneck. She claimed to have a Master Degree and opted for a Graduate scribe.

As she was also not allowed to avail the facility, Parwin approached the SSEPD. The Commissioner intervened and took up the issue with OPSC. Now Parwin is allowed to take a BBA qualified scribe as per her choice.
