Sessions Court, Too, Rejects Kangana’s Pleas For Transfer Of Case
Mumbai: A sessions court on Wednesday turned down Kangana Ranaut’s petitions seeking transfer of a defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar against her and her counter-complaint against the eminent poet and lyricist from a metropolitan magistrate’s court here.
The actress, who courts controversy every now and then, had alleged that the metropolitan magistrate is prima facie biased against her as he had issued a bailable warrant despite her counsel representing her.
“I have no faith in this court,” Kangana’s lawyer had said on her behalf.
She moved the sessions court after chief metropolitan magistrate rejected her plea last October.
This time, additional sessions judge Shridhar Bhosale turned down the petitions, reported Hindustan Times.
Akhtar had taken Kangana to court in November 2020 on the charge of making defamatory and baseless statements about him in an interview.
Kangana then filed a counter complaint, accusing Akhtar of extortion and criminal intimidation during her dispute with Hritik Roshan.
