Berhampur: At least seven persons were injured in a clash between two groups of people at Sana Ramachandrapur village under Rambha police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the villager had tested positive for COVID-19 some days back. As a precautionary measure, the sarpanch had then declared shutdown in the village. While some people supported the shutdown, others had opposed it.
Sensing trouble, a platoon of force was deployed in the village.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning when some people of the village while cleaning the school premises, were attacked by their rival group. During the clash, more than seven people of both groups were seriously injured.
Following information, IIC of Rambha police station Krushna Chandra Sethy and tehsildar Abani Kumar Sahu rushed to the village with additional force.
“An investigation into the incident has begun and those involved will be arrested very soon,” the IIC said.
