Severe Air Quality: Delhi Primary Schools To Remain Closed Till November 10
New Delhi: As the air quality continues to be ‘severe’ in the national Capital, the Delhi government has ordered all primary schools to remain closed till November 10.
“As pollution levels continue to remain high, primary schools in Delhi will stay closed till 10th November. For grade 6-12, schools are being given the option of shifting to online classes,” Delhi Education Minister Atishi wrote on X.
The Delhi government earlier ordered all government and private primary schools to remain closed till November 2.
An official Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) order directed teachers of classes Nursery to V to conduct sessions in online mode.
The pathetic air quality in Delhi dropped to ‘severe’ category on Friday, with no sign of improvement till now.
The overall air quality index (AQI) recorded in Delhi was an alarming 460 at 7 am on Sunday. On Saturday, Delhi’s average AQI was 415.
Noida and Gurugram, which are part of the national capital region (NCR), are also experiencing ‘severe’ category AQI since Friday.
Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had an emergency meeting with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Environment Minister Gopal Rai two days ago to discuss measures in view of the scary situation.
