Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe thunderstorm ,lightning, gusty wind 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph and moderate rain in twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack till around 6 pm on Monday.
Severe thunderstorm ,lightning, gusty wind 50-60 gusting to 70 kmph may also occur at isolated places in Khurda district till 7.40 pm, it added.
Parts of Odisha hace been experiencing Nor’wester rains and thunderstorm activity, which lowered mercury level by 2-4 degree Celsius during the last 24 hours. A cyclonic circulation lies over Odisha & neighbourhood and another over westcentral Bay of Bengal off south coastal Andhra Pradesh have also been triggering rains over the state, according to the weather agency.
Meanwhile, an orange warning has been issued for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak on April 6, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak Jajpur and Cuttack on April 7 and Mayurbhanj and Balasore on April 8. These districts are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds with speed of 50-60 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours.
