Bhubaneswar: Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) deputy secretary P K Sarangi on Saturday sought a report from the Vice-Chancellor of IIT Bhubaneswar in connection with the alleged sexual harassment of a PhD student by a senior professor of the institute.
According to the allegation brought by the girl, hailing from West Bengal, she has been sexually harassed by the professor since 2012. Her husband, who is also a pursuing PhD course in the same institute, is also being mentally tortured by him. Even though the matter was brought to the IIT authorities’ notice, nothing has been done so far.
The girl has also sought an early intervention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the matter.
