Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much talked-about ‘Inshallah’ is back in the spotlight with reports suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan has replaced Salman Khan in the project and could star opposite Alia Bhatt.
There has been no official word yet, but the possible update has reignited interest in the film.
‘Inshallah’, one of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most ambitious projects, was initially set to star Alia and Salman in the lead, but subsequently shelved amid reported creative differences between the filmmaker and the lead actor.
Fresh reports suggest the project may be back on track, with Shah Rukh playing the male lead.
Deccan Chronicle reported that Bhansali has approached Shah Rukh to star opposite Alia.
Production designer and celebrity interior designer Rupin Suchak told News18, “Fortunately or unfortunately, the film didn’t make it to floors because of a showdown that happened, and Salman walked away from the sets.”
“Salman and Bhansali didn’t want to do the film together. I spent a year pre-planning the set with Bhansali. We were in the USA for about three months scouting the location,” he added.
Earlier reports said that Hrithik Roshan was being considered for the project, but those plans never materialised.
‘Inshallah’ is touted to be a mature love story, revolving around a young woman who falls for an older man.
The buzz around Shah Rukh leading the film isn’t new.
“SRK has had multiple meetings with Bhansali for Inshallah and in all likelihood, he will be greenlighting the film. It’s a mature love story, something that goes with Shah Rukh’s personality. SRK has also expressed interest in the project, although he hasn’t made up his mind about being a part of it,” a source was quoted as saying by News18.
Shah Rukh is currently busy shooting for ‘King’ and Alia is filming Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’.
