Sharp Drop In New COVID-19 Infections In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Amid the raging storm Yaas, which saw testing being stalled in likely-to-be-affected districts, Odisha saw a drop in new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. A total of 6,736 of 46,241 samples tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

The state had seen 11623 cases the previous day.

According to the I & PR Department, 3774 among the fresh infections are from quarantine and 2962 local contacts.

Angul registered the highest of 788 new cases, followed by Sundargarh (720) and Khurda (517).

With this, the active cases in the state have mounted to 106440. The daily positivity rate is 14.56 per cent.
