Mumbai: The sudden demise of 42-year-old Shefali Jariwala, apparently due to cardiac arrest, left everyone in shock and disbelief over the certainty of life.
The late actress’ close friend, Pooja Ghai, during an interview with Vickey Lalwani, revealed that there was no foul play in Shefali’s death.
Opening up about the preliminary postmortem report, Pooja said, “The good part is that there was no foul play. My only fear, the moment I saw Parag was… Oh my god, the guy was grieving, the guy naturally wanted to be left alone, and he was being cross-questioned by the police. Of course, they were doing their duty. But we’ve seen it in past cases, I don’t want to name people who have gone through this. You’ve seen (next of kin) being grilled for months, and their life is over. They don’t even have enough time to grieve, because they’re constantly under the radar of the police and the media. Few months are probably just gone in that. The moment I saw Parag, my only prayer was, ‘I hope he gets out of this as early as possible’. He could spend time with himself. He could be there and grieve. Fortunately, the report says there was no foul play, and he was released.”
While talking about Shefali’s husband, Parag Tyagi, she said, “I don’t think he was in the state. He was just numb. He just couldn’t gather. Shefali was the world to him.”
However, the final postmortem report is still awaited.
Revealing what happened on the night of Shefali’s demise, Pooja continued, “After dinner, Shefali asked Parag to take their dog for a walk. And the moment he went down, the helper at home called him and said, ‘Didi is not feeling well.’ Could you just come up, take care of her?’ The dog is really old. And he told the helper, ‘I’ve just come down for a walk, so why don’t you come down, take him for a walk and I’ll come up.’”
When Parag handed over the dog to their helper and went upstairs, Shefali still had a pulse.
Pooja shared, “And her eyes were not opening and she just had dead weight to her body. So, he immediately must have realised that something’s definitely wrong. And he took her to the hospital… before she was brought in at Bellevue, she was already no more.”
Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multi-specialty Hospital by her husband, Parag on June 27. However, she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors, according to a PTI report.
The Mumbai Police sent her body to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
