‘Shocked & Devastated’ Bollywood Celebs Pray For Ahmedabad Plane Crash Survivors, Cancel Events

New Delhi: The news of Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, with 242 people on board, sent shockwaves through India and the entire world. Bollywood celebrities offered prayers for those involved in the devastating crash and cancelled events planned for this week.

“Shocked and speechless at the Air India crash. Only prayers at this time,” Akshay Kumar posted on his X handle.

Sunny Deol wrote, “Praying with all my heart for survivors — may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time.”

A heartbroken Riteish Deshmukh posted, “My heart goes out to all the passengers, their families, and everyone affected on the ground. Holding them all in my thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

Actress Parineeti Chopra posted, “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members of the ill fated Air India flight today. Praying for God to give them strength during this time.”

Offering condolences, Randeep Hooda posted, “Heartbreaking to hear about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. Hoping for survivors and strength for the rescue teams. May the departed rest in peace, and may their families find the strength to endure this immense loss.”

Sonu Sood wrote, “Prayers for Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad after take off to London.”

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut shared, “The news of the Ahmedabad plane crash is extremely tragic and painful. I pray to God for everyone’s safety, may God provide strength to all affected families in this hour of crisis.”

Salman Khan, who is the new face of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), cancelled his meeting with ISRL’s co-founders Veer Patel and Ishan Lokhande, which was scheduled for Thursday.

“As we all have just heard the tragic incident that has taken place today. Indian Supercross Racing League and Mr. Salman Khan stand by the Nation United in this tough time. All our condolences and prayers are with the affected families. Jointly, we have made a responsible decision to reschedule this event to a further date,” stated a press release.

‘Kannappa’ actor Vishnu Manchu, on the other hand, postponed the trailer launch and pre-release event to be held in Indore on June 13.

He wrote on X, “My heart breaks for the lives lost in today’s Ahmedabad Air India crash. In deep mourning, we’re deferring the #Kanappa trailer release by one day and canceling tomorrow’s Indore pre‑release event. My prayers are with the families during this unimaginably difficult time.”

Air India flight AI-171, which was travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed minutes after take-off outside the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon.

Confirming the news, Air India wrote on X, “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on http://airindia.com and on our X handle.”
