Shocking: AAP & BJP’s Councillors Attack Each Other At Delhi Civic Centre [Watch]

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been at loggerheads over the control of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Two-and-a-half months after AAP won the civic polls, the Mayor’s election was finally held two days ago on the fourth attempt, following several delays.

The councillors of both parties have been clashing regularly, but on Friday they crossed all lines.

The ruckus started after Mayor Shelly Oberoi declared one vote invalid in the election to MCD’s standing committee. Votes were counted in the municipal House on Friday after polling to elect six members of standing committee closed, with 242 of 250 councillors exercising their franchise.

As ugly, free-for-all clashes broke out between AAP and BJP leaders, an injured councillor collapsed inside the Delhi civic centre. AAP accused BJP members of trying to attack the Mayor.

This was the third day of commotion in the House.

On Wednesday, BJP and AAP members exchanged blows in the chamber of MCD House after election of the new Mayor.

Some BJP councillors claimed being hit with flying objects, while the Mayor alleged a few BJP members tried to attack her.

The MCD House had to be adjourned on Thursday as sloganeering continued over election of standing committee.

BJP protested against Mayor Shelly’s decision to allow members to carry mobile phones to the booth area during election of MCD standing committee, while AAP accused BJP of resorting to hooliganism because of its defeat in mayoral polls.

The polling for standing committee was finally held today, but the end result was same: shameful violence and disgraceful fights.
