Shoes Hurled At Speaker Amid Protests Over Passing Of Lokayukta Bill In Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly witnessed ugly scenes on Saturday as BJP MLAs hurled shoes, earphones and papers at Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro during the House proceedings.

While Sethi refuted the allegation of throwing shoes at the speaker, Jaynarayan said, “I don’t know what exactly I have thrown at the Speaker but he deserves this kind of behaviour.”

Commenting on the matter, the Speaker said, “I am examining the photos. Law will take its own course.”

Odisha government chief wif Pramilla Mallik told the media that deputy LoP Bishnu Sethi, MLA Jaya Narayan Mishra and Opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi threw shoes, earphones and papers at the Speaker’s podium

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra condemned the act and termed it as unfortunate.
