Short Film ‘Sabla’ Has Message On Women Empowerment

Bhubaneswar: A short women centric film ‘Sabla’ was released on YouTube on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The four-minute-long short film sends out a strong message on women empowerment.

Written and directed the film by Aashish Dubey, the film is about how a man, Sunil handles his girlfriend’s past coolly and supports her.

In the movies the girl, Kiran’s ex-boyfriend blackmails her with an MMS. The story revolves around how Sunil handles the blackmailer.

While Saroj Parida, an Odia actor has played the role of Sunil, Ritu Sharma has essayed the role of Kiran well.

Aashish and Subhash Maskara produced the movie while Vishal Bhardwaj and Sachin Shrivastav have edited it.

The film is produced under the banner Indian Independent Film Makers Hub.

Aashish is an Alumni of La Femis film School Paris France, 2014 and alumni of National Film Archive of India, Pune, 2007.

His first short film Aisa Hota Hai had gone to many international film festivals. The film had received bronze medal at Austria Film Festival in 2012 and best screen play award Kala Ghoda art festival in 2013.

‘Sabla’ is his eighth short film as a writer and director. Currently he is working on his first feature film, and few short films and documentaries.
