Meerut: Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, accused of murdering Muskan’s husband Saurabh Rajput, may be sent for yoga and meditation sessions to rid them of their addiction to drugs. According to officials, the two, who are now in judicial custody in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, are displaying severe withdrawal symptoms and have even refused food and water.
“They have been asking for drugs. We have provided necessary medical treatment and they are also undergoing counselling. However, there is concern that their health may deteriorate if they refuse to have food and water. Hence, we are planning to send them for yoga and meditation. Such sessions are held for undertrials and prisoners,” an official said.
Meanwhile, it has come to be known that Shukla used Rajput’s money to gamble. He even placed bets on IPL matches through bookies. He allegedly used his winnings to maintain a lavish lifestyle, for both himself and Muskan.
According to the police, Rajput, who used to be in the merchant navy, started working at a restaurant in London recently. He would transfer Rs 1 lakh to Muskan every month to meet her expenses and those of their minor daughter. Muskan would, however, give this money to Shukla. He used the money to gamble and procure drugs for the two of them.
Muskan and Shukla allegedly stabbed Rajput to death on March 4, dismembered the body, put the pieces in a drum and poured cement over them. It was on a complaint from Rajput’s relatives that the police went looking for him. Rajput and Muskan’s daughter then told the police that her father is in the drum. By then, the cement had dried up and the whole drum had to be sent to the mortuary.
The police say that Shukla and Muskan had planned to kill Rajput in November itself and had purchased the items required to dispose of the corpse. “He also planned to place bets on matches during this IPL season. Just before leaving London for the last time, Rajput had transferred Rs 1 lakh to Muskan,” another official said.
