Bhadrak: A sub-inspector (SI) of police in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has been suspended for allegedly deputing a youth to probe a complaint as a law enforcement official.
SP Manoj Raut ordered for suspension of SI Kartik Jena of Bhadrak Rural police station after the incident came to light. The accused youth, Piyush Panda of Dhusuri area in Dhamnagar block, has also been arrested.
According to sources, the SI has asked the youth to impersonate a police officer and investigate a family discord matter in Rasikabaga village in Kalei panchayat. However, villagers grew suspicious of his credentials when he demanded Rs 5000 as bribe to dispose of the case. Following which, they detained him and reported the matter to police.
Following his detention and interrogation, it was revealed that he acted on SI Jena’s instructions.
