Ludhiana: Within hours of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala’s brutal killing on Sunday, the BJP hit out strongly at the Bhagwant Mann-helmed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, calling it a ‘state-sponsored’ murder.
“Today, a young Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was gunned down in state-sponsored murder. The AAP government is totally responsible for this,” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said in a video message.
On Saturday, the Punjab government removed security cover of 424 VIPS, including Moosewala.
“Their security cover was withdrawn without any logic or proper analysis. The murder of Moosewala, within hours of his security being withdrawn, shows that law and order has collapsed due to AAP’s ‘PAAP’ government,” Poonawalla said.
He went on to list some law and order-related incidents in Punjab since the AAP came to power in resounding fashion in March, winning 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab assembly.
CM Mann promises to punish culprits
Punjab CM Mann appealed for calm and said no culprit would be spared.
“I am deeply saddened and shocked by the horrific murder of Sidhu Moose Wala.. No culprit will be spared.. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with his family and his fans all over the world.. Appeal to all to remain calm,” he tweeted.
