Baripada: The Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district, which had remained shut for the last eight months since March in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, reopened for the tourists on Sunday.
Sources in the Forest Department said that about 200 tourists entered the Park in 21 vehicles from Pithabata gate in the morning.
As decided, a maximum of 35 four-wheelers will be allowed to enter the park from Kaliani gate in Jashipur block and 25 four-wheelers from Pithabata gate under Baripada wildlife division from 6 am to 9 am every day.
For entry into the park, tickets are available at the two booking counters at Pithabata and Kaliani gates from 6 am to 9 am.
Besides, for the night halt at Kumari, Ramtirtha, Gudgudia, Barehipani and Jamuani, the tourists can book accommodations online on www.ecotourodisha.com, said a senior forest official.
