Singapore: An orchid in Natioinal Orchid Garden of Singapore was named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to commemorate his visit.
The orchid has been named ‘Dendrobrium Narendra Modi’ and it is located inside the tropical garden which is listed as the only UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Prime Minister also visited the Mariamman Temple, the oldest temple in the country. PM Modi is on the last leg of his five-nation tour to Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Accompanied by Singapore’s Culture Minister Grace Yien, the Prime Minister also visited Chulia Mosque.
PM Modi had earlier unveiled a plaque marking the immersion site of ashes of Mahatma Gandhi.
At the Indian Heritage centre, he was accorded a traditional welcome.
The Prime Minister is expected to visit the Changi Naval Base to interact with the officers of Indian Navy aboard the Indian Naval Ship Satpura.
