Six Detained In Bar Staffer Murder In Odisha’s Khurda
Khurda: Police on Wednesday detained six persons from a forested area in Ranpur of Nayagarh district in connection with the murder of a bar staffer, on the outskirts of Khurda on Tuesday evening, and seized a BMW car from their possession.
According to sources, some youths arrived at a bar near the Batamangala temple in a BMW car. They soon left the place following an altercation with the security guard over parking the vehicle.
The youths, however, returned to the bar again and suddenly attacked two staffers -Amiya Barik of Upara Sahi in Khurda town and his colleague. They were sitting outside the bar at the time of the incident. While his colleague managed to escape, the youths repeatedly stabbed Barik with a sharp knife and fled the area.
The bar staffers rushed Amiya to the district headquarters hospital where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
Following a complaint by the father of the deceased, Khurda Town police rushed to the bar and began a search operation after tracking the accused from the CCTV footage of the bar.
In course investigation, the police, acting on a tip-off, raided the forest area in Ranjpur and apprehended six accused.
They are currently being interrogated at the Town police station, the sources added.
