Six Killed In Road Mishap Near Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Six persons were killed when a car hit a bike near Uttara Chhak on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar late on Friday night.

According to reports, the car (OR-02-BL-7575), after hitting the bike at Gudiapokhari near the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), skidded off the road and fell into nullah. While two persons moving on the bike died on the spot, all four persons inside the car died of asphyxiation as the car submerged in the water.

The incident took place at about 10.10 pm.

Soon after the incident, the locals rushed to the spot and took the bodies of the two bikers in a van to the Capital Hospital. Later, four bodies were brought out of the submerged car by the Fire Services personnel.

While the bodies of the two bike-borne deceased have been identified as Prabhakar Pradhan (35) and Laxmipriya Pradhan (60) of Laxminarayanpur village under Pipili police limits, the bodies of the four passengers who were travelling in a car have been identified as Anirudh Barik and his wife Dipanjali Barik, their 3-year-old daughter Shreeya and Netramani Behera (50) from Nemala area under Pipili police limits.

Following information, Khurda collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra rushed to the spot and monitored the rescue of the deceased passengers.
