Bhubaneswar: After successfully completing its first phase with rejuvenation of the ITI institutions in the state, the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ entered the second phase of its transformation with formulation of new mission, vision, values and road ahead by the skill leaders in a two-day workshop which concluded at Police Bhawan here on Saturday evening.

Planning & Convergence, Skill Development & Technical Education minister Usha Devi, Advisor, Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and Principal Secretary, Finance Tuhin Kanta Pandey congratulated the Skill Team for remarkable success in the 1stphase gave them ‘go ahead’ for the 2nd phase of transformation.

Addressing the valedictory session of the workshop, Usha Devi said “The skill transformation of Odisha has made a mark at the national level and we will soon emerge one among the best at international level”.

In his address, the chief secretary said the exercise made in the two-day workshop is ‘best in class of its own’. “Carrying forward the standard of ITIs towards excellence marks the uniqueness of Odisha from rest of the country in skill scenario. Now, the new mission is on its way towards sustainability,” he pointed out

Principal secretary, Finance mentioned that the human resource is the foundation and face of the Institutions. The “Can Do” spirit among skill leaders of Odisha has brought about a qualitative difference. “With new skill initiatives, the youths of Odisha now think that they can compete with rest of the world and they can lead. This has been proved in the World Skill Competitions organized in Cuttack recently under the aegis of Odisha Skill Development Authority.

In his keynote address, Sanjay Singh said the journey of transformation in technical and vocational education started two years ago with introspection about where do we stand in world skill scenario. In the process we have integrated hardware, software and heartware components of the skill and now Odisha is all set to venture into the second phase transformation.

Addressing the session, director, ITI RV Raja Kumar said the Skilled in Odisha silently conveys “Best in Odisha”. He expressed the hope that very soon the skill workers will be among the bests of the world.

The Skill Leaders of Odisha comprising of the principals and senior faculty of the ITIs presented the vision, mission and values worked out in the workshop. The New Vision is “Transform Society Through Skilled Professionals”.

The Workshop also spelt out the Vision 2020 which include making the physical, digital and intellectual infra best in the country, increasing women skill professionals to minimum level of one third among the total skill personnel, providing the eco-system for creating entrepreneurs and globally employable ITI graduates, enhance industry partnership in skilling exercise and making the teacher and students fit for carrying forward vision of sustainability.

The leaders also listed the values of Human Creativity, Discipline, Integrity, Teamwork and Creativity for themselves in ITIs of Odisha.

CEO, Odisha Skill Development Authority Rajesh Patil, Director of Technical Education Balwant Singh along with 100 Skill Leaders from different ITIs of Odisha participated in the workshop.

It may be pertinent here to mention that a 4-member delegation team from Odisha had visited Singapore in 2017 for Asian Skill Leaders’ Summit which led to the signing of a MoU between the Odisha government and Temasek Foundation, Singapore in the presence of the chief minister for an exchange of skill leadership programme.

As per the MoU, 100 skill leaders of Odisha were trained at Singapore on ITI transformation. These skill leaders carried forward the rejuvenation activities at the level of ITIs and now they are all set to enter to the second phase of transformation.
