Bhubaneswar: The Jagannath Managing Committee on Saturday decided to conduct the ensuing Snana Jatra of the Lords in accordance with the rituals of Shree Jagannath Temple.
Talking to the media after presiding over the Jagannath Managing Committee meeting with the Chhattisha Nijog of Puri via video-conferencing at the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) conference hall here, Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb said the committee had accepted the decision of Chhattisha Nijog regarding the conduct of Snana Jatra.
Referring to the reopening of the Jagannath temple for devotees, he said that keeping the massive rush in mind, the temple will remain closed till the Niladri Bije (return of the deities to the main temple).
On the participation of the sevayats in Snana Jatra, the Gajapati Maharaja said that rituals of the Lords during the Jatra will be performed by a limited number of sevayats in accordance with social-distancing guidelines. “The sevayats have been asked to strictly adhere to the COVID guidelines,” he added.
He also said that to enable devotees witness the Snana Jatra on TV, the state Information & Public Relations (I & PR) Department has been given the responsibility for the live telecast of the festival.
