SOA Founder Manojranjan Nayak Felicitated For Contribution To Health Sector In COVID Times

Bhubaneswar: Founder President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Prof (Dr) Manojranjan Nayak has been conferred with ‘Jati Nandighosh’ award for his contribution to the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic in the healthcare sector.

Jyoti Ranjan Das received the award on his behalf at the ‘Jati Nandighosh Conclave’ held to commemorate the first anniversary of the TV channel on Saturday.

The SOA, among others, has been leading from the front in the COVID-19 battle in Odisha.

It created dedicated facilities with over 2100 beds including 157 ICU beds for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. 625 beds, including 125 ICU beds, was first set up in Bhubaneswar on April 6. Two more fully-equipped COVID-19 hospitals with 170 and 150 beds respectively were subsequently set up in Kendrapada and Talcher. The fourth such hospital with 350 beds was set up at Chandpur in Nayagarh district.

The hospital later introduced plasma therapy, which provided a boost to patients’ treatment.

The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medical sciences of the SOA Deemed to be University here, was the only medical institute in Odisha to be chosen for the human clinical trials of India’s first COVID-19 vaccine.

Director-General of Police (Fire Services), Satyajit Mohanty, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amrit Kulange, ‘Mo Odisha Paribar’ Convenor Arup Patnaik, Actor Sabyasachi Mishra, President of ‘Joy Odisha’ Rudranarayan Samantaray, Chairman of Sirajuddin Pvt Ltd Mohammed Yusha Sirajuddin, Managing Director of S. N. Mohanty Group Prabodh Mohanty, Managing Director of Falcon Marine Exports Ltd Taraprasad Patnaik, Actor Bijaylaxmi Praharaj, young scientist Om Bibarti, historian Anil Dhir, Twitter girl Charubala Barik, heritage worker Pratik Patnaik and Utkalika Katar were also felicitated on the occasion.
