Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) in Bhubaneswar will join hands with US-based THINQ Pharma and Ayurvidya Healthcare Innovations to carry out research on developing drugs from natural and synthetic products to treat difficult diseases.
SOA announced this after a discussion between its founder president Prof Manojranjan Nayak and eminent scientist and president and chief scientific officer of THINQ Pharma and Ayurvidya Healthcare Innovations Mukund S Chorghade on Saturday.
A team of researchers comprising scientists from THINQ Pharma and different disciplines of SOA including pharmacy, biotechnology, medical sciences and engineering will be constituted to develop new drugs and drug products from natural and synthetic origin.
Chorghade was accompanied by Dr Debendra Kumar Mohapatra, Chief Scientist, CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.
Chorghade is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and is known for the discovery of sterically protected and electronically activated metallporphyrin catalysts called ‘chemosynthetic artificial livers’ which help in drug metabolism, valorisation of biomass and environmental remediation.
