Mumbai: Sonu Nigam has reacted to a viral edited video that appears to show him mocking Salman Khan’s singing in ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’.
The clip surfaced amid the ongoing controversy over singer-composer Amaal Mallik’s missing credit on the song.
A video circulating online this week shows Salman singing ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ on television, while Sonu is seen making faces and holding his forehead.
The clip carries the text, “Sonu Nigam roasts Salman Khan’s singing.”
Sonu is also heard saying, “I heard something good after many days, and it made me lose my mind. I’ll weep if I hear someone sing like this.”
However, the singer later clarified that the video had been edited to make it appear as though he was reacting to Salman.
Reposting the clip on Instagram, Sonu wrote, “Can expect the unexpected on internet (shocked emoji) I stumbled upon this edited video. This was my reaction for a Pakistani little girl singer.”
Singer Anish Mathew also pointed out that Sonu’s original video was reacting to someone else.
His comment read, “I remember this video Sonu ji was reacting to little Hadiya Hashmi singing her part in ‘Bol Hu’ from Nescafé Basement II.. Internet is unbelievable.”
Several others recalled the original video, with one fan commenting, “This was after that aalap of little girl. In Bol Hu.”

In 2020, Sonu had shared a video reacting to Pakistani singer Hadiya Hashmi’s performance of Bol Hu, praising her rendition.
He said it had been a long time since a song had moved him so deeply.
The song had been sent to him by Jaaved Jaaferi, who recommended that he listen to it. Sonu later revealed that the performance had left him in tears.
The clarification comes amid the controversy surrounding ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’.
Last week, Salman Khan Films shared a post marking 10 years of the song from Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty-starrer ‘Hero’.
Amaal composed the track, while Salman lent his vocals and Armaan Malik sang the reprise.
However, the post initially omitted Amaal’s composer credit, prompting him to call out the omission on social media.
The post was later edited to include his name, but the controversy continued, with some fans accusing Amaal of being ‘ungrateful’ to Salman.
Both Amaal and Armaan defended their stance amid the backlash.
