Soumya Das Of Berhampur Emerges South Odisha Topper In JEE Main 2023

Berhampur: Soumya Kanta Das of Berhampur has emerged as south Odisha topper in the Session 2 of JEE Main 2023 whose results were declared by National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday.

Soumya, a Plus II Science student of Khallikote Higher Secondary School in Berhampur, secured 220 out of total 300 marks in the examination at 99.47%. Soumya, who lost his father Sura Prasad Das a few years ago, had to struggle hard to pursue his studies with the support of his mother Minakhi Das. He said he owed his success to his mother and director of Aryabhatta Academy Sudhir Raut.

Rudra Narayan Pradhan, another student of the Academy also made his alma mater proud by securing 99.14 NTA score. Both Soumya and Rudra admitted that they committed some mistakes in the examination.

Of the total 35 aspirants of the Academy, who appeared in the examination, 2 secured more than 99%, 12 secured more than 95% and 22 above 90.78%.

The NTA had conducted JEE (Main)-2023 in two sessions in CBT mode from January 24 to April 15 for enrolment of students to BE/BTech courses. More than 8 lakh students had appeared at the entrance test throughout the country.

Aryabhatta Academy has become the address of thousands of children including the children of underprivileged section such as daily wagers, house maids and orphan children since 2006 who are being treated with care and concern. The Academy not only imparts coaching free of cost but also provides study materials to the needy students.

The aspirants who have secured more than 90.78 are eligible to appear in the JEE Advance to be held on June 4 and can get admission in 23 IIT, IIST, IISER and other national level educational institutions. Others can also join 31 NIT and some national level institutes and engineering colleges in the state.
