South Asian Youth Summit begins in state capital

Bhubaneswar: The 1st South Asian Youth Summit 2017 began in the state capital on Sunday on the lines of the global theme, ‘Creating a Sustainable Future: Empowering Youth with Sustainable Opportunities.

Without love, peace and justice, efforts of today’s youth would not bear fruits, iconic human rights activist, Irom Sharmila said while motivating them to respect each other.

Addressing the summit, DG NYKS, Government of India , Major General DS Singh said a country can never be defeated if the youth are involved in decision-making process. He identified youth with power and unity.

As many as 272 youth leaders and activists from 61 countries, including SAARC members, graced the inaugural session of the three-day long summit.

While Sunday saw youth leaders from different participating countries exchanging ideas and policies implemented in their respective countries, discussions on social forum was conducted on the second day. On Tuesday, the delegates will visit various tourist places in Odisha and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in the city.
