Speakers At National Seminar In Odisha’s Derabis College Ask Researchers To Shun Plagiarism
Kendrapada: A two-day national seminar on “Research methodology and academic writing” was held at Derabis College in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
The seminar, organised by IQAC in collaboration with the department of Economics in Derabis College, concluded on Monday.
Dr Minaketan Behera, Professor and Chairperson of the Centre for Informal sector and Labour Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi attended the seminar as the Keynote speaker.
Similarly, Dr Sibasankar Mohanty, Associate Professor, Analytical and Applied Economics, Utkal university, and Sarat Kumar Kar, Presidentof the Governing Body of the college, were guest of honour.
Principal of the college Chandra Sekhar Nayak chaired the seminar.
In his key note address, Dr Behera highlighted the definition, aims and objectives of research methodology. He also spoke about the online platforms available for a scholar to write research papers, plagiarism, ethics, e-journals, research designing, qualitative and quantitative research and its applicability to life. He also explained about the advantages of research as a career for students and academicians.
Dr Siba Sankar Mohanty elaborated on the techniques of the academic writing and advised the academicians to avoid complexity in report writing. He said research should be brief, exact, clear, objective, systematic, full of evidences and free from plagiarism.
More than 51 delegates from various colleges attended the seminar where seven papers were presented.
Governing Body president Sarat Kumar Kar said more such seminars will be organised to enhance the knowledge of the students. He advised the students to do hard work and prepare themselves to face any challenges in life.
Convenor of the seminar Biswajit Sahoo welcomed the guests and Sanjay Kumar Mishra conveyed vote of thanks. Santanu Kumar Mati, and Rudrangi Patnaik and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
