Special Public Prosecutor Of Odisha Vigilance Held For Taking Bribe
Bhawanipatna: Vigilance officials arrested the Special Public Prosecutor of the Kalahandi Vigilance Division, Ashutosh Mishra, for corruption on Saturday.
According to Vigilance sources, Mishra was caught red-handed while taking a bribe from a former Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Mahulapatna outpost.
The sources said Mishra had demanded Rs one lakh from the former ASI, Malaya Rana, to dispose of a Vigilance case against him for which he has been placed under suspension.
Rana had informed this to the Vigilance department. Following this, a team of anti-corruption officials of Cuttack Vigilance Division laid a trap and caught Mishra while he was accepting the bribe from Rana at his residence at TV Centre Pada area in Bhawanipatna town.
Following the seizure of the bribe money, the Vigilance officials later searched the residential house of Mishra and recovered cash worth Rs 15 lakh and forwarded him to the court.
