Bhubaneswar: Two persons have died in Bhubaneswar after allegedly consuming spurious liquor.
The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Beura and Santosh Naik of Budheswari Colony in Laxmisagar area in the city.
Reports indicate that five friends, including the deceased, consumed liquor purchased from a local shop during a gathering, after which all fell seriously ill, raising concerns about adulterated alcohol. Santosh died four days ago, while Biswajit succumbed while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Tuesday.
Three others are still under treatment at the ICU, according to their relatives.
Following public protests, the Excise Department sealed the shop and sent liquor samples for testing.
