Bhubaneswar: Regional carrier Star Air will commence services from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Odisha’s Jharsuguda from January 1 with direct flight to Hyderabad.
It also has plans to expand services to Raipur and Lucknow from the western Odisha city – Hyderabad to Lucknow and Hyderabad to Raipur via Jharsuguda.
These new routes mark a significant milestone in Government’s flagship UDAN scheme aiming to connect remote destinations at affordable rates and comes on the back of the airline’s recent announcement of expanding the fleet to 25 aircraft over the next three years as part of its plans to foster last-mile connectivity to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in the country.
“Get ready to fly to the powerhouse of Odisha! Introducing direct flights between Jharsuguda and Hyderabad, starting 1st January 2025!,” Star Air, the aviation arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, posted on X.
It also mentioned that the fares start at Rs 3,999.
In another post, the airline mentioned about flights from Raipur to Hyderabad and Jharsuguda from February 1 with fares starting at just Rs 2,399.
The initial schedule will include flights on Mondays and Sundays, with increased frequencies starting February 1 – Jharsuguda-Raipur flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, and Jharsuguda-Lucknow flights on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
