Bhubaneswar: Special Chief Secretary of Telangana State, Bibhu Prasad Acharya, former cricketer Debashis Mohanty and Tara Prasad Dhala on Friday met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and donated Rs 10 lakh under the ‘Mo School’ campaign.
All of them are former students of Unit-IX Boys High School here and donated the money for the development of their school.
They praised the initiative taken by the Chief Minister. “We are inspired by the initiative, taken by the Chief Minister and came forward to donate this money for the development of our school,” said the former students.
As per the norms, the state doubles whatever money is contributed by ex-students for the development of the school. The Chief Minister had earlier announced an initial corpus of Rs 100 crore for this initiative.
The best three schools of every block will get a cash award of Rs one lakh each, which will be distributed among the teachers.
The total amount will be used in developing the skills of the students, library, laboratory and seminar etc.
Unit-IX High School will also celebrate its Golden Jubilee this year. The school’s student union president Ashok Balabantray, said that a bank account has already been opened for the ‘Mo School’ programme.
Debashis Mohanty will take care of all the sports related activities of the school.
Under this campaign, 30 students of Class-X of the school are taking training from Utkal Divas, informed Taraprasad Dhala.
The CM launched the logo of the Golden Jubilee ceremony on the occasion.
