Steady Rise Of COVID-19 Positive Cases In Rural Areas Of Cuttack Dist In April
Cuttack: In a surprising trend, the rural areas of Cuttack district have been reporting consistently rising number of COVID–19 positive cases compared to the city areas in the last one week.
According to district administration, the daily positive cases in district have remained below 30 since April 1. But the cases in rural Cuttack have not only gone up but also crossed the figure of the areas under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
On April 1, the district reported total 27 positive cases with 23 of those from city and 4 from rural areas; on April 2, the total was 22 with 16 from city and 5 from rural (1 repeat); on April 3, the total was 26 with 20 from city and 3 from rural (3 others) and on April 4, the total was 22 with 13 from city and 9 from rural areas.
On April 5, out of the total 28 cases in the district, rural areas accounted for 16 while the city reported 11 cases. Four employees of a branch of State Bank of India at Niali tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
Among the blocks, Tangi and Banki seem to be worst affected as those have reported positive cases for 3 out of the six days while Niali, Salipur and Athgarh have witnessed cases for 2 days each.
The district has total 29,673 positive cases with the CMC areas reporting 16,750 cases till Monday.
