Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a minor girl who was raped at Chandili in Rayagada district alleged that her stepmother plotted the incident.
According to her statement, her stepmother was at the home of the accused at Chandili. The matter came to light when the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint at the Chandili police station on Thursday against her stepmother.
The sources said the minor girl alleged that her stepmother was forcing her to marry one Binod Khara. She plotted a plan and on the pretext of visiting the hospital, the woman took the minor girl to Khara’s home and forced her to marry him.
Later, the stepmother left the minor girl alone at Khara’s home, where he allegedly raped her.
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has taken the girl into its custody.
The victim’s relative said, “I had gone to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar. When I got information that my brother’s wife took the girl to Khara’s house, I went there immediately but they beat us. We informed about the matter in the police station and they rescued her.”
“I want that my niece should stay with us and continue her study,” he added.
Rayagada Police Station IIC, Krushna Chandra Bhatra said, “The incident took place under Chandili police limits. I have sent the complainant to the Chandili Police Station. The police will investigate the matter and take action according to law.”
