‘Stress’ Drives Matric Examinee To Hang Self In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A girl student allegedly committed suicide on Sunday night, a day before the completion of annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examinations, apprehending poor performance in some papers in Dasrathpur block of Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The deceased, identified as Rashmibala Pahil of Bamadevpur village and a student of Jajpur Municipality High School, was found hanging with her scarf in her house on Sunday night. She had appeared for the HSC exams at Jajatikeshari High School.

Her family members claimed that Rahsmibala did not do well in two papers and was under mental stress. She could not handle the stress and took the extreme step, her kin claimed.

On being informed, police sized the body and sent it to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation in the incident.
