New Delhi: There is need for dialogue rather than dictation when dealing with students, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said without directly speaking about the ongoing protest in the national capital against the NEET UG 2026 paper leak.
His remarks came just hours before Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned.
Today’s young generation was not misguided or directionless, Bhagwat said, calling for meaningful “discussion”, not “dictation”, to understand them.
The RSS chief, while speaking at the ‘Vishwa Mangalya Sabha’, reflected on the widening gap between generations, saying today’s youth require the right guidance.
“When we were young, it was an era of obedience. That’s not the case anymore,” he said.
Today’s younger generation was more inclined to ask questions, making it essential for parents and elders to engage with them, Bhagwat said, while voicing concern over the shrinking space for conversations within families, as reported by India Today.
“The new generation asks questions. We have to explain the reasoning to them. We need to give them a lot of affection. We need to spend time with them. We need to communicate with them,” the RSS sarsanghchalak said.
Winning the trust of the youth requires conversation, not commands, he insisted.
“We need to give the new generation a sense of belonging. We need to communicate. Not dictation, but discussion. Not orders, but consensus,” Bhagwat said.
There has been no reaction from him ever since the protests bgan in Delhi and then spread to other parts of the country.
His silence was questioned by senior advocate Kapil Sibal on Friday. “Mohan Bhagwat ji. Events at Jantar Mantar… Your silence in the last one month is more eloquent than your sermons,” Sibal posted on X.
On the same day, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar had alleged that forces within the country and abroad were behind the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest, as reported by ANI.
“Behind these protests are those forces, both within the country and globally, that do not want India to become a developed, strong, and educated nation,” Kumar had said.
While Bhagwat did not mention the ongoing protests, some believe that his remarks are an indication that the RSS is in favour of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Meanwhile, all eyes are now on the third round of talks between the CJP and the government slated to be held today, now that Dharmendra Pradhan has put in his papers.
