Substandard Road Work Delays Lord Lingaraj’s Journey To Mausima Temple

Bhubaneswar: Lord Lingaraj’s chariot, Rukuna Rath, reached Mausima temple on the third day, Monday. The inordinate delay was allegedly due to bad condition of the road on which the chariot was pulled.

On Saturday, the chariot’s wheel got stuck on the road due to alleged substandard road work. The chariot had to be halted at Teenimundia Square. The chariot could not be pulled to Mausima temple on Sunday too. The journey resumed on Monday and the Rath reached Mausima temple.

However, another hurdle on Monday, left the locals upset with the arrangements. Maa Parvati’s palanquin broke down on Monday, leading to unhappiness as well as fear among the devotees over such occurrences. Locals have demanded repair of the road for a smooth return journey.

On Monday, the representative deities of Lord Lingaraj Hari (Vishnu) and Hara (Shiva) were taken inside the Rameswar temple and installed on the altar. At the Rameswar temple, devotees had gathered in large numbers to pay obeisance and witness the rituals.

The temple authorities are also performing a 24-Prahar Nama Jagnya on the premises of the Rameswar temple.

On Tuesday, Dwara Paribartan ritual of the chariot was performed by the servitors on the eve of the return journey of the deities to the main temple.
