SUM Hospital In Bhubaneswar Saves Low Birth Weight Baby Girl With 76-Day Treatment
Bhubaneswar: Doctors at the Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital in Bhubaneswar saved the life of an extremely underweight baby girl with breathing difficulty.
As per hospital sources, a woman had given birth to three babies, but two of them died shortly after being born. Though the baby girl had survived, her health condition was precarious. Visits to different hospitals failed to yield any positive result and the health condition of the baby continued to deteriorate.
When the 52-day-old baby was admitted to Sum hospital, she weighed only 660 grams. She was admitted to the Neonatal ICU of the hospital and paediatricians began her treatment. The baby was kept on ventilator support for many days and then put under non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for a month to manage the respiratory process.
The baby girl was provided treatment in the NICU for 76 days under the supervision of Paediatric department head Dr Debasish Nanda.
Hospital Superintendent Pushparaj Samantsinghar closely monitored the treatment of the baby girl.
