Bhubaneswar: The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of the SOA Deemed to be University here, on Saturday signed
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad-based Asian Institute of
Gastroenterology (AIG) for conducting liver transplantation on a regular basis.
The MoU was signed by Dr P Balachandran, Director, Liver Transplant, AIG
and Dr Pusparaj Samantasinhar, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM
Hospital.
IMS and SUM Hospital had successfully conducted Odisha’s first ever live
donor liver transplantation in March.
Dr Balachandran said AIG looked forward to working with IMS and SUM Hospital to provide treatment to the patients in the vital area of hepatobiliary sciences.
Prof Manojranjan Nayak, founder president of SOA, Prof Manoj Kumar Sahu, head of department of Gastroenterology and other doctors from IMS and SUM Hospital and Dr GV Premkumar, Dr Shakti Swaroop and Dr Krishna Chaitanya from AIG and Santosh Kumar Sahoo, vice-president, AIG, were present during the signing of MoU.
