The vascular tumour in the teenager’s nose extended up to the skull base, which is known as Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma, informed Prof. (Dr) Khageswar Rout, Professor and Head of Department of ENT, who led the surgical team.

“As the patient was young and open surgery would have left facial scars causing deformity, we opted to go for endoscopic endonasal procedure, which is a minimally invasive technique, using advanced gadgets,” Prof. Rout explained.

He informed that the patient has been doing well post surgery and is able to perform day-to-day activities without any problem from the next day.

The boy’s family members were very happy with the outcome of the procedure and thanked the surgical team, Prof. Rout added.

The other members of the surgical team were Assistant Professor Dr Bibekananda Acharya, and senior residents Dr Subrat Chandan Pradhan and Dr Rakesh Giri.
