Bhubaneswar: SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) on Sunday organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program – AndroXcell 2025 – focused on Male Sexual Dysfunction and Male Infertility.

The one-day workshop aimed to place the latest advancements, clinical insights and best practices in andrology before healthcare professionals across Odisha.

The event was graced by Dr Vijay Oza, President of National Medical Commission (NMC), Delhi, as the Chief Guest. The other resource persons included Dr Datteswar Hota, Senior Urologist, Andrologist and Transplant Surgeon and the Scientific Program Chairman of AndroXcell 2025; Brig (Dr) Biraj Mohan Mishra, Chief of Medical Services at SUMUM, Dr Debabrata Sabat, Professor, Urology, IMS and SUM Hospital and Workshop Co-ordinator and Dr Pranab Pattnaik, Senior Consultant, Urology, SUMUM and Workshop Co-ordinator.

The CME featured eminent faculties from across the nation who engaged delegates in enriching educational sessions. Speakers included Dr Deepak Gupte, Dr Prashant Pattnaik and Dr Priyank Kothari from Mumbai; Dr Priyaranjan Nandy and Dr Nilanjan Mitra from Kolkata; Dr Vineet Malhotra from Delhi, Dr Karthikeyan VS from Chennai, Dr Puvai Murugan from Coimbatore, Dr Harprit Singh from Jamshedpur and Dr Pyarilal Tripathy from Bargarh.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Oza said,“Andrology is an important component of our healthcare system, yet it continues to have limited presence in our health education framework. We are introducing several reforms in medical education to ensure andrology received greater emphasis — including enhanced scope, specialized qualifications, and focused training.”

This initiative, he said, marked a step toward transforming the healthcare education system and bringing andrology to the forefront and addressing the often-unspoken issues that impact society.”

Dr Hota said the objective of the educational event was to raise awareness in society about male sexual health — a subject that still received very little attention in the health education system. Unfortunately, it has remained a taboo for many leading countless individuals to suffer in silence throughout their lives. “Through this program, we aim to equip doctors with deeper knowledge of andrology, along with effective ways to identify, address, and treat related concerns. This marks the first step toward ushering in a significant change in the field of andrology,” he said.

Brig Mishra said the event was a step toward changing societal attitudes in an area where male sexual health had long been overlooked. For the first time in the region of eastern India, SUMUM has hosted an event dedicated to this important subject.

“Today, we are privileged to have leading experts in andrology from across the country, as well as representatives from the Government, joining us to share their knowledge. This reinforces our commitment to bringing andrology into mainstream healthcare and further strengthening its scope at SUMUM” he said.

Swetapadma Dash, CEO, SUMUM, and Patron of AndroXcell 2025, said, “Male sexual health has long been a neglected area in mainstream discussions, yet it has a profound impact on quality of life. By hosting this CME, we are taking a decisive step toward breaking the silence, spreading awareness and equipping our medical fraternity with the knowledge and skill to address these issues with sensitivity and expertise. This is not just an event; it is the beginning of a much-needed conversation in our state.”

Dr Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhaan Deemed to be University and Chief Patron of AndroXcell 2025, said AndroXcell 2025 reflects our commitment towards addressing areas of health that have often been overlooked, such as male sexual health and infertility. By bringing together leading experts, practitioners and policymakers, we are not only facilitating the exchange of knowledge but also taking a significant step toward normalizing conversations around these vital issues.

“Our goal is to inspire change that benefits patients, empowers doctors and strengthens the overall healthcare ecosystem,” he said.
