Suspended Or Resigned? BJD Woman Leader’s Exit Mystery Raises Eyebrows

Bhubaneswar: Confusion surrounded the manner of exit of Minati Debata from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday with her suspension and resignation from the party being announced in quick succession.

The BJD, through a press release, announced suspension of Minati, state vice-president of its women’s wing, for indulging in anti-party activities. She was also the district observer of Sambalpur and Deogarh, Biju Mahila Janata Dal.

She has been suspended on the order of BJD president Naveen Patnaik, organisational secretary of the party Pranab Prakash Das said.

Meanwhile, Minati also announced her resignation from all posts and primary membership of the party through a post on Facebook.

“I have been working with sincerity in the party since last 15 years. I have always carried out party instructions and shouldered responsibilities as given by the party to the satisfaction of party high command. But now I feel that the party has been neglecting me and I have been sidelined in spite of my best efforts. The verbal promises made to me during 2019 elections have not been fulfilled. The local MLA has always neglected and misbehaved me. In this circumstance, I am resigning from party posts and also primary membership of the party,” she wrote.
