Bhadrak: An elderly woman narrowly escaped a fatal accident at Bhadrak railway station in Odisha after slipping while trying to board a moving train. Quick action by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official saved her life.
The incident, which reportedly took place around 1 am, was captured on CCTV cameras.
As per information, the woman, identified as Janaki Rout, was trying to board the Jagannath Express after the train had already started moving. As the passenger ran alongside and tried to climb onto the train, she slipped and fell near the edge of the platform.
Noticing the incident, RPF assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Manas Manik responded swiftly and acted quickly to rescue the woman. Manas, who was on duty at the time, immediately rushed and quickly pulled the woman safely, preventing a possible fatal accident.
Narrating the incident, the RPF ASI said Jagannath Express from Kharagpur was moving when the elderly woman was seen trying to board it. “However, she slipped and was about to fall under the train. I responded quickly and immediately pulled her to safety. Her life was saved,” he said.
Railway authorities have lauded the RPF officer for his alertness, courage, and dedication to duty.
