T20 WC Semifinal Vs England: Rohit Sharma Loses Delayed Toss, But Happy To Bat First

Mumbai: A wet outfield and occasional light drizzles delayed the start of the India versus England T20 World Cup semifinal at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday.

But once the overcast conditions made way for blue skies, Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler walked out for the toss. The England captain called it right and invited India to have a bat first.

“The weather seems clear now… we would have batted first anyway,” Rohit, the hero of India’s superb win over Australia the other day, said after the toss.

“It’s a big game and we want to put runs on the board. Pitch looks a little dry, hopefully it gets slower and slower,” he hoped.

Buttler said it looks to be a decent surface.

“Everyone’s talked about the low bounce at this ground. With the rain around, we hope it’s an advantage to bowl first,” Buttler remarked.

Both India and England have gone in with an unchanged XI.
