Bhubaneswar: With Barabati Stadium in Odisha’s Cuttack city all set to host 2nd T20 International match between India and South Africa on June 12, the hotel in Bhubaneswar, where players of both teams will be accommodated, geared up to ensure their comfortable stay.
According to sources, the players of both teams, their support staff and the officials accompanying them will stay in Mayfair Hotel in Bhubaneswar. As many as 96 rooms in the hotel have been booked for their accommodation.
As soon as the team members will arrive at the hotel, they will be welcomed with a shower of rose petals amid blowing of conches, hotel sources said. The hotel management has drawn up an elaborate list of food items to be prepared by exclusive cooks for the occasion.
Keeping the varied taste of the Indian and South African players, Indian, Chinese, Continental and Odia delicacies will be served to the players. Besides, there will be an wide array of drinks, they said.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh visited the hotel to review the security arrangements. The hotel would be kept under the tight cordon of security personnel. Total 21 platoons of police will be deployed around the hotel from the day before the arrival of the teams till their departure, he said.
The players would be taken to Barabati Stadium amid security cordon for practice session as well as the match. Besides, tight security will be put in place along the route, he added.
Meanwhile, the counters at the stadium will open at 9 am on Thursday for sale of offline tickets. For the first time, there will be two separate counters for women. While total 12,093 tickets will be available for cricket fans, one person can purchase two tickets.
